Haunting Name: Third Bridge
Description:
Travel east on Smokey Hill Rd and take a left at the stop sign when the road becomes one lane each way. Drive all the way up and down over the hills on the dirt road until you come to the third bridge. This area is loaded with death and pain, from victims of car accidents to Indian attacks, starvation and canabalism from the Smokey Hill Trail years. Drums can be heard in the distance and if people visiting the bridge are loud and obnoxious, the drums get louder and closer as though whomever playing them wants you to hear. It is said that an Indian massacre took place there in which settlers killed the men in battle and then returned and killed the woman and children of the tribe. Some have reported fog rolling in from both directions and have seen a man floating on a horse and other strange things.

Haunting Name: The Barn
Description:
The barn is located on a dirt road. It runs behind the Rocky Mountain Arsenal. Legend says that one night two high school sweethearts went out to the barn. When they arrived the boyfriend went psycho and killed his girlfriend by hanging her by the rafters of the barn. On some nights when you go out to the barn you can hear the screams of a woman coming from within the barn. It's believed that the girl that was killed in the barn haunts the area. The second you hit the road to make your way to the barn your hair stands on end." This barn is actually on Gov't property now and I have been out to visit it on several occasions. The story behind the barn has the ring of urban legend yet I have also heard that the barn was used for satanic rituals by a cult at one time. The barn has since been re-modled and is part of a American Bald Eagle sanctuary. It used to be in great disrepair and the old farm house next to it was no more than a burnt pile of rubble. I will admit that the place will make your hair stand on end, but I have yet to experience anything out of the ordinary at the "Haunted Barn" of Commerce City, Colorado!
UPDATE 6-10-04: The last time I attempted to go out to this location to get some pictures I found that the Govt. has closed the road leading to the barn with a big sign stating that it will not be re-opened to the public. I am attempting to find out how to get permission to get back there at this time.
